What is Sporulation?
Sporulation: the formation of spores, a reproductive body produced by fungi capable of development into a new individual either directly or after fusion with another spore
The Sporulation Art Show is a place for community-led and curiosity-driven exploration of the so-called Psychedelic Renaissance.
In its second year, the intention is to grow it over time into a full-scale annual art & cultural festival including live music and performance, market stalls, workshops, public lectures, and of course lots of art!
The larger vision is “Wollongong: A Destination of Choice for Psychedelics” in anticipation of the day that an active psychedelic research group is formed in Wollongong and access to psychedelic-assisted therapy becomes legal.
Raising awareness of psychedelic-assisted therapy and building local community support for its introduction to Wollongong is an important first step in bringing this vision to life.
Psychedelics and Death
Artists are invited to explore any number of threads that run through this theme.
Ego death due to tripping, psilocybin for end-of-life anxiety, death as inseparable from and necessary for birth, the role of fungi as decomposers…
